El pueblo de Galera es un sitio de belleza natural, que se empapa en la historia de muchas culturas que se remontan a unos 4.000 años. Con una población de menos de 1.500, este pueblo virgen en 'Altiplano' de la zona de Granada y es uno de los seis pueblos con conforma la región Huescar dentro de esa área. Galera tiene un espectacular paisaje circundante, incluyendo notables depósitos de cristales brillantes, donde se ha secado un lago interior a lo largo de los años, dejando a sus exóticas formaciones rocosas. Se trata de 150 kilómetros de la ciudad de Granada ya una altitud de unos 830 metros sobre el nivel del mar, su situación geográfica está dominado por las montañas circundantes de Sagra, Castril, Cazorla.

Es una tierra de contrastes, con ríos que fluyen a través de verdes valles, yuxtapuesta a las zonas secas donde la vegetación tiene que adaptarse a las condiciones de sequía. Además de los muchos tipos de flora, las especies de fauna como conejos, liebres, zorros y perdices son sólo algunos ejemplos de aquellos que disfrutan de este hábitat natural. A lo largo de las orillas del río, sauces, álamos y fresnos forman un bosque fresco de la sombra en los meses de verano. Peces, cangrejos y tortugas abundan, así como las anguilas y mucho más.

El campo de los alrededores es ideal para el senderismo y el ciclismo y los deportes al aire libre mucho más.

The village of Galera is a natural beauty spot, which is steeped in the history of many cultures going back some 4,000 years. With a population of less than 1,500, this unspoiled village in the Granada 'Altiplano' area and is one of the six villages with makes up the Huescar region within that area. Galera has a spectacular surrounding landscape including remarkable sparkling crystal deposits, where an interior lake has dried out over the years, leaving fascinating rock formations. It is about 150 kilometres from Granada City and at an altitude of around 830 metres above sea level its geographical situation is dominated by the surrounding mountains of Sagra, Castril, Cazorla.

It is a land of contrasts, with rivers flowing through lush, green valleys, juxtaposed with dry areas where plant life has to adapt to the drought conditions. As well as the many types of flora, species of fauna such as rabbits, hares, foxes and partridge are just a few examples of those who enjoy this natural habitat. Along the river banks, willow, poplar and ash trees form a cool forest of shade in the summer months. Fish, crabs and turtles abound, as well as eels and much more.

The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking and cycling and many more outdoor sports.
